Low Fat - But What About The Sugar!
Dr. Simon says, that for reasons he doesn't know, sugar consumption has become a "non-issue in the media". The more that people worry about fat, the less worried they seem to be about sugar. As a matter of fact, many foods with reduced fat have increased sugar. You should focus on sugar too. As you cruise down the supermarket aisles and eat more meals out, watch out for the "hidden sugars" that make up the majority of sugar we consume. Since 1971, the average consumption of sugar in America has gone up 15% to 143 pounds per person per year due in large part to a huge increase in high fructose corn sweetener used in many processed foods and drinks. The sugar bowl on the kitchen table is not really the problem. Go to our "What you need to know about sugar and decay" section of this web site for more information.
