Welcome to the Dental Care of Stamford Hygiene Corner.
Most people want to have their mouth healthy so they can chew and enjoy their food, avoid pain,
infection and bad breath and look good. Newest research has proven that there is a substantial link
between periodontal infection and diseases in the rest of the body due to oral bacteria. The holes
in the gums that let them bleed also let the bacteria of the mouth get in and travel to other areas
of the body where they help cause thickening of the arteries that can lead to heart attacks,
strokes, complications of diabetes, serious complications in pregnancy and many other systemic
diseases. “Innocent gum bleeding” is actually a sign of oral bacteria entering the
blood stream and potentially spreading serious infection
As a group, our hygiene team has over 60 years of collective experience in the dental field. We
have ‘been there and done that’ so we can help you on the road to dental health without
causing you discomfort using the newest dental technologies. We bet that you did not know that dental
hygienists can place antibiotics right in infected gum pickets to avoid dental surgery and we often
use local anesthesia (Novocain) for gum treatment now so that makes things a lot more comfortable!
Research has shown that even the standard 6 month check-up and cleaning is not best for everyone,
so we tailor your care as needed. We bet that you did not know that pregnant women, people with diabetes,
implants and many other medical conditions need to come for hygiene visits every 3 months!
We make your visits as comfortable and thorough as possible using the best equipment and communicating
with you along the way. We will be sure to address any special concerns you may have and promise to avoid
making you feel guilty. Dr. Charles Mayo, founder of the Mayo clinic once said, “Dental health can
extend the human life 10 years”. Gum disease, like many other serious diseases, usually does not
cause pain until it gets very serious, so please do not put off visits to the dental hygienist!
So remember, it’s a team sport...get in the game!
